Description

This is a Basic Electronics workshop for anyone who is electronics curious!

  • held in person at our workspace in San Luis Obispo
  • open to adults 18 and over only
  • no prior experience necessary
  • welcoming, anti-gatekeeping environment
  • 4 hrs with a 30 minute lunch break (BYO lunch)

We'll go over what components like switches, resistors, capacitors, and batteries do; what a circuit board is; we'll explain voltage, current, and resistance and how they relate to each other; and we'll go over what analog and digital mean and how computers know information about the world around them.  We'll focus on learning the vocabulary of electronics, and we'll put together some basic circuits in class.  No soldering is required, though if you'd like to learn how to solder, check out our Soldering Workshops!

These workshops are possible because of a City of San Luis Obispo Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Grant - we particularly encourage anyone part of an underrepresented group in STEM to join us, and we do not discriminate against anyone on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, disability, or age.

If the cost of this workshop would prevent you from attending, we have a few spaces available for those with economic hardship.  Use coupon code "BEWKSHOP" to reduce the fee to $5.
