HOW DO I CHOOSE CW OR CCW ROTATION DIRECTION?

You probably have a preference based upon the way you've trained yourself and your hands to twist skeins. Check out the picture and match up how your skeins look. You can change the direction of the SkeinTwister once you have it, but it requires unscrewing the base and unscrewing and swapping 2 wires. All it takes to do this is a screwdriver or two, but it's better to just order it in the direction you want!


WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO USE THE SKEINTWISTER?

All you need is a power outlet, a sturdy table, and some 3" C-clamps (or you can order red ones with your Twister!). The table needs to have some weight to it or on it - enough so it doesn't slide across the floor when you pull against it. If you use the Twister while standing, a table height that's about hip-level is most comfortable. If you use the Twister sitting, it's helpful to have a chair with adjustable height.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN HOW TO USE?

Expect to play around with it for about 30 minutes.  You'll end up using different motions and handling the tail a bit differently than you do by hand, so you will have to form new habits!  In fact, it's sometimes harder for those of us who have years of muscle memory built up to learn these new motions, than it is for a new employee who doesn't have ingrained habits yet.  It'll only take a few small batches of yarn to figure out what works best for you, and then you'll be more productive than ever!


HOW LONG WILL THE SKEINTWISTER'S MOTOR LAST?

The SkeinTwister does have a motor and gearbox, both of which have moving parts that will eventually wear out. How long they last will vary from dyer to dyer, as everyone's typical use case is quite different. The biggest variable that affects motor life is load - so the more twist you crank into the skeins, the more load is put on the motor, and it will wear faster. That said, we have been selling SkeinTwisters since 2018 and have had very few motors wear out.
